About me and this Blog

Published by Alan

As you’ve probably guessed from the domain name, my name is Alan Gandy…

If you are on this site you have either been invited, or you stumbled upon it because you know my name.

If you are a friend – Hello….

If you are a client or potential client – Unlike any of our other sites this is purely for entertainment, so don´t take it to damned seriously!

If you are an enemy (Yes I do have some – and you know who you are!) – go screw yourself!

Everyone writes a bit about themselves – and that’s just what I´m going to do - write a bit…

I´m English, very happily married, three boys.

There you go - that’s pretty much all I want you to know about me, unless you are friend – in which case you don´t need me to go into who I am, where I am and what I do! You already know…

As for the Blog: I set it up purely for my own entertainment, just a place to store and pass on a few of my favourite things. the odd personal snippet, and let off steam on occasion. Would be nice if you enjoy the content. If not, frankly – what do I care, I´m not doing it for your entertainment – I’m doing it for mine!

Yes, thats’s my name too. I was at Windermere for the last 2 weeks at Sea Scout Camp near Lakeside. Found your blog tonight idly looking to see if there are any others of our name.

    Regards

    Alan

Really sunshine, you ought to get out a bit more… As flattering as it is to have a stalker – if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! Nothing better to do? To much beer? No work? Or just a bit of a sad specimen? It’s hard to tell….

LOL, there are some seriuosly sad people out there huh!

Humour aside sounds like someone with a vested interest personal or business, but you never know, it could actually be someone who really is that dumb!

Thanks for the comment JonO… Can’t say I’m that worried – I don’t tend to lose sleep over people like this, unless it gets to the point they are wielding an axe! :D

    Hi Alan

I found you on a business forum and followed your sig link. I like your blog and your attitude!

I’m also interested in photography. More recently I’ve ventured into the area of food photography, but that’s a whole new ball game. It’s so hard to try to cook and take photos at the same time, especially if there are hungry people wanting to eat the stuff rather than wait for the faffing about with the photos.

Hi Kay – I think you are right, food photography is really quite a different thing. And is really difficult to do well even if you have a chef to hand, never mind trying to juggle pots and pans yourself, and fend of the hordes.. :) Haven’t been on that site for a while if its the one I’m thinking I should stop by soon…

    Thanks, Alan

A friend told me that any food photo that was (photographically) worth gasping over most likely portrayed inedible food with glycerine and all kinds of other stuff.

It’s kinda hard for the home cook to try to reproduce work to the standard of a food stylist who’s had a reasonable time, as well as pro chefs and photographers, to set the whole thing up.

Food bloggers generally try to do everything at once for themselves. On occasions, I’ve cooked a meal perfectly only to have to heat it up in the microwave after the photo session. It’s a tough life. LOL! Good fun, though.

  13. Alanon 20 Jan 2010 at 7:39 pm

Yes – all kinds of tricks to it which will render the food itself inedible – but hell, when it’s done well it looks fantastic! :) Liked your blog BTW, very nice… If you want to drop me an email to alan@ followed by the domain name, might be able to give it some exposure on one of our other sites if you have some Spanish and Med style recipes in your repertoire…

Sounds great, thanks! I’ll email you.

I also have your name wondering if the domain name is ever for sale please let me know

  17. Alanon 11 Feb 2010 at 11:14 am

Hi Alan – I’ve have the domain for years now, so can’t imagine myself letting it go or selling it. Unless of course someone was to make me an insane offer which might facilitate my retirement! However unlikely that may be… :)
