Yes – all kinds of tricks to it which will render the food itself inedible – but hell, when it’s done well it looks fantastic! A friend told me that any food photo that was (photographically) worth gasping over most likely portrayed inedible food with glycerine and all kinds of other stuff.

It’s kinda hard for the home cook to try to reproduce work to the standard of a food stylist who’s had a reasonable time, as well as pro chefs and photographers, to set the whole thing up.

Food bloggers generally try to do everything at once for themselves. On occasions, I’ve cooked a meal perfectly only to have to heat it up in the microwave after the photo session. It’s a tough life. LOL! Good fun, though.

Hi Kay – I think you are right, food photography is really quite a different thing. And is really difficult to do well even if you have a chef to hand, never mind trying to juggle pots and pans yourself, and fend of the hordes.. Haven’t been on that site for a while if its the one I’m thinking I should stop by soon…
